This Saturday, Shreveport residents are urged to get out and help clean up our city. It's a joint effort between the city and Shreveport Green to spruce up the city and make things clean and beautiful.

Groups will be picking up litter along the streets and in ditches and riverfront areas as well.  Organizers hope parents and teachers will work to get youngsters involved in this clean up effort. Shreveport Green leaders say

We believe that it's important to teach the younger generation responsible practices that affect their environment and their health. We believe, that if we make young people aware of their actions and how they impact the environment around them, then they will be more careful and caring when handling solid waste and litter.

Mayor Adrian Perkins wants to encourage dozens of locals to come out and help on Saturday.

The cleanup will be happening from 8am until noon.
