The Louisiana State Fair will be back in Shreveport in a few weeks, bringing big entertainment, family fun, and an impressive lineup of free attractions. Established in 1906, the fair has been a Louisiana tradition for over a century — and organizers say this year’s event will be one of the best yet.

A Century-Old Louisiana Tradition

Fair Spokesman Russell Adams reminded local leaders that the event is more than just a carnival — it’s a major part of Louisiana history and an economic engine for Northwest Louisiana. The fair generates an estimated $24 million impact for the Shreveport-Bossier area.

The 2025 State Fair runs October 30 through November 16 at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds. Gates open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.

Safety, Security, and Clean Fun

Adams emphasized the fair’s ongoing focus on safety and cleanliness. The fair maintains a strict clear bag policy, youth curfew after 6 p.m. without a chaperone, and enhanced security with Shreveport Police, Caddo Parish deputies, and private officers on site.

The Louisiana State Fair continues to grow, offering something for everyone — from food lovers to thrill seekers to families looking for wholesome fun.
