A study was done about phishing scams by Fullstack Academy, a tech education site. They gathered day from thousands of Americans and have compiled a list of the most common scam in each state.
You’ve probably heard about phishing, but might not know what it is. The way this scam works is that you will get an email or text from a company you typically do business with. You are prompted to click on a link to verify a delivery or an order. If you fall for this scam, prepare to face headaches ahead.

This report says the three biggest phishing lures across the country were package delivery issue, prize claims and odd account activity discovered. You might also run into bank fraud scams too.
What States Are Most Susceptible to Scammers?
The folks in Florida, Georgia and Indiana are most likely to fall for scam texts and email. The scammers have the most trouble finding victims in Alabama, Idaho and South Carolina.

What Is Louisiana’s Most Common Phishing Scam?
I’ve gotten these scam messages. In fact I get about one a month. It is typically a package delivery issue. It might look like this:
“This is USPS (or Amazon etc) trying to contact you about a package delivery. We have been unable to deliver your package.” You are then prompted to click on a link. DO NOT DO IT.
24 other states also show this as the number one phishing scam.
The best advice is never to click on a link unless you are completely sure it is something you are certain about. If you see a web link, check that link out with the real business site and see if they are exactly the same. If not, you know the scammers are on the loose.

Amazon leads the pack in this report followed by the Post Office, UPS, Pay Pal and Fed Ex.
If you get these kinds of emails or texts, you should immediately block that that sender and mark the email as spam.
