Louisiana’s Favorite Cereal Says a Lot About Us
The Cereal Aisle Has Spoken... Apparently, Louisiana has spoken, and our favorite cereal is Froot Loops. That’s according to a new study from Concordia University, St. Paul, which looked at Google Trends search data from January 2025 through January 2026 to find the most-searched cereal in every state.
In Louisiana, the colorful winner was Froot Loops. Nationally, Froot Loops also came out on top, leading in 13 states. Rice Krispies and Cheerios tied for second, each winning five states.
Breakfast Memories Hit Different
Honestly, cereal is one of those things that can tell you a lot about a person’s childhood.
When I was growing up, my mom bought Grape-Nuts and Cheerios. Not fun for a little kid... Those were the dependable, sensible cereals. Cap’n Crunch and Froot Loops were rare treats. You knew things were good when a box with a cartoon character showed up in the pantry.

My First Apartment Diet Plan
Then, after I moved into my first apartment, an upstairs room in a drafty, old house on Wilkinson, I finally had full control over my own grocery decisions. Naturally, the only thing I had in the house was Frosted Flakes... and some cold milk...
That is adulthood in its purest form: no furniture, no plan, no real food, but at least there’s a box of sugary cereal on the counter.
Louisiana Picked the Loudest Box
The study says the South as a region also leaned toward Froot Loops, which feels about right. Louisiana has never been afraid of color, sweetness, or making breakfast a little more fun than it probably needs to be. We are not exactly a plain shredded wheat kind of state.
Of course, the study is based on search interest, not actual cereal sales or what people are pouring into bowls every morning. So it does not necessarily mean Froot Loops are flying off Louisiana grocery shelves faster than everything else. It means people here searched for Froot Loops more than other cereals during the study period.

Still, there is something funny and nostalgic about seeing Louisiana matched with Froot Loops. It feels loud, bright, sweet, and maybe just a little chaotic.
In other words, pretty Louisiana.
