A tragic story is being unveiled about a former pediatrician cardiologist in Baton Rouge. WAFB in Baton Rouge reports the doctor is accused of possessing child pornography. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has arrested 37 year old Antonio Felipe Belda on more than 100 counts of pornography involving juveniles under age 13 and 50 counts of video voyeurism.

WAFB reports deputies began checking out allegations against the doctor a few weeks ago. Agents from the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Louisiana State Police, and Homeland Security Investigations helped gather evidence in this case.

The Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System reportedly terminated Dr. Belda after they were informed about his arrest and the allegations filed against him. The health system did issue this statement to the media:

We are shocked to learn of the disturbing allegations against one of our recently employed physicians. When we became aware of these charges and arrest at his home this morning, the physician was immediately terminated with no further patient or staff contact. Our physician hiring process is extremely rigorous and includes background checks, multiple reference checks and other nationally recognized best practices. We will continue to cooperate fully with our law enforcement partners. As always, the safety and care of our patients and team members is our top priority.

Dr. Belda's biography has been removed from the Our Lady of the Lake website.

WBRZ in Baton Rouge reports agents raided Belda's home and found hundreds of sexually explicit images and videos involving girls believed to be under age 12.

Agents got a tip about this case from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children.

This investigation is continuing and the EBR Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information about this case to come forward with details.
