One of the graduates receiving a diploma from Northwestern State University during Friday's Fall Commencement Exercises has an important link to the university's history.  A news release from the university says that Alton McGee of Shreveport is now a third generation NSU grad.  His grandmother, June Robinson-Cofield, was one of the first African-American students to attend NSU in the mid-1960s.  She received a Bachelor of Sociology degree in 1968.  His mother, Lydia Cofield McGee, earned a Master's Degree in Special Education in 1983.  Now Alton McGee has earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Secondary Business Education.  McGee is a Business Education teacher at Shreveport's Fair Park High School.  He earned his degree through a combination of online and traditional courses, a summer of commuting to Natchitoches each day, and monthly trips to NSU to meet with faculty.
