Local Red Cross Volunteers to Help with Hurricane Relief
The local chapter of the Red Cross is preparing to help out with hurricane relief, if needed.
Organizers have been working to put in motion emergency shelter operations. They are also rounding up volunteers to help as tropical storm Isaac bears down on our state. More than 100 volunteers are on standby and at least 4 have already left to help in south Louisiana. Three of them are in Baton Rouge to help with the pre-landfall, and another is in Jackson, Mississippi to help with the relief effort.
Shelter operations at LSUS and Southern are on standby in case the storm does force a massive evacuation to our south.
