This Saturday is one of the biggest days on the calendar annually for the city of Shreveport. It's Mardi Gras Parade Day for the Krewe of Centaur. Hundreds of thousands of riders and revelers will descend upon the streets of Shreveport for the event. But the big question on everyone's mind is, "what will the weather be like?"

Right now, at the start of the week, we have a little good news, and a some news that's a little less than ideal.

First off, let's start with the rain chances. As soon as extended forecasts started to include Saturday, February 22nd, people started looking hard. What some forecasts included was a strong chance for precipitation. Which come forecasters even positioned as "a chance of snow".

Now we've gotten away from that forecast. Over the last few days, most major weather outlets have moved their chance for rain on Saturday to below 25%, with some being around 10%. Although there are a few national forecasts who keep jump rope rain chances. One hour they say rain, next hour no rain, the next hour rain, then no rain...

Now that's still a "chance of rain" in a weird sense, but it's Louisiana...there's ALWAYS at 10% chance of rain. So right now, looks like we're going to be dry for the Centaur Parade. But...there's a but in here too.

The other part of this is that the temperature will likely be pretty chilly. Although there's still a chance for that to improve. Without bringing rain along for the ride.

Over the last few days, it's become clear that Shreveport will see another blast of arctic air this week, with temps dropping below freezing in the overnight hours for multiple days in a row. Daytime highs those days not escaping the 30s. But as the forecasts have progressed, the timing of the arctic air has been shifting on the calendar.

On the other side of the arctic blast, Shreveport will enjoy sunshine and 70 degree temps. That cutline for the temperature shift was once set for Tuesday the 25th, but forecasts have slowly moved that up...first to Monday, then to Sunday, and we could keep seeing it move into Centaur's Parade Day on Saturday.

It's all going to depend on how fast other weather fronts move the cold air through Shreveport. Once that cold air mass shifts off the Ark-La-Tex, Shreveport will snap into 70 degree daytime temperatures.

So let's cross our fingers, call on the Barksdale Bubble, and hope that the cold air blows through Shreveport on Thursday, and we see 60s and 70s for Float Loading and Parade Day for the Krewe of Centaur.
