Mardi Gras Lights Shine Bright At Krewe Of Centaur Grand Bal XXXIV

Mardi Gras magic takes over Shreveport. The glitter and gold finally hit the floor at the Shreveport Convention Center this past Thursday. After a brief standoff with Mother Nature that forced a rescheduling, the Krewe of Centaur Grand Bal XXXIV proved that some celebrations are worth the wait.

The atmosphere was electric, as the local community came together with the Krewe to celebrate the 2026 Mardi Gras season, and Centaur's Royal Court 34.

Over 1,000 attendees filled the hall, transforming the venue into a sea of vibrant purple, green, and gold. The energy remained high throughout the evening as the organization celebrated its history and the resilience of the local Mardi Gras spirit.

NBA Legend Robert Parish Leads the Way

The star power was undeniable as Basketball Hall of Famer Robert Parish took center stage as the Grand Marshal. Known as 'The Chief' during his legendary NBA career with the Boston Celtics, Parish got to celebrate his hometown, and Centaur celebrated him.

Parish is a Shreveport native who attended Woodlawn High School, and played college basketball at Centenary College in Shreveport. Seeing a global icon embrace the unique fun of a Shreveport Bal added a layer of excitement to the convention center floor.
