Excitement Builds As Powerball Jackpot Climbs To $1.3 Billion

I don't know about you, but everywhere I go, people are talking about the monster Powerball jackpot. I was pretty sure there would be a winner over the Labor Day weekend, but it didn't happen.

The jackpot is still climbing and the next drawing is tomorrow (Wednesday) night.

Since there was no big winner in the Monday night drawing, the jackpot for Wednesday climbs to $1.3 billion. This puts the jackpot close to the top of the list of biggest jackpots of all time. The lump sum, one time payout is close to $600 million.

Here’s a list of the top 20 prizes from Powerball and Mega Millions:

1. $2.04 billion, Powerball was won by one ticket in California on November 8, 2022.

2. $1.765 billion Powerball won by one winning ticket in California on October 11, 2023.

3. $1.602 Mega Millions August 8, 2023 won by one ticket in Florida.

4. $1.586 billion Powerball January 13, 2016. There were 3 winning tickets for this prize. These tickets were purchased in Tennessee, Florida, and California. Each had the option to take a lump sum of $327.8 million.

5. $1.537 billion Mega Millions won by one winning ticket in South Carolina.

6. $1.350 billion Powerball was won by Charlie Saephon of Portland, Maine in the April 6, 2024 drawing. Lump sum payout is $422 million.

7. $1.337 billion Mega Millions was won by one ticket in Illinois on July 29, 2022.

8. $1.326 Mega Millions was won by one ticket in Oregon on April 7, 2024.

9. $1.3 billion Powerball is up for grabs on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. The lump sum payout would be $589 million

10. $1.269 Mega Millions was won by one ticket in California on December 27, 2024.

11. $1.130 Mega Millions is won by a ticket in New Jersey.

12. $1.08 billion Powerball jackpot is claimed by a California winner in the July 19, 2023 drawing.

13. $1.05 Mega Millions was won by the Wolverine FLL Club of Oakland County, Michigan in January of 2021.

15. $810 million dollar Mega Millions prize is won by a Texas player in the September 10, 2024 drawing.

16. $768 million, Powerball won by a single ticket in Wisconsin. Cash: $477 million.

17. $758 million, Powerball won August 24, 2018, by Mavis Wanczyk of Massachusetts. She chose the lump sum payment of $480 million.

18. $754 Powerball jackpot is won by someone in Washington on Feb 6, 2023

19. $731 Powerball drawing on January 20, 2021 is won by ticket in Maryland.

20. $699 million, Powerball won on October 4, 2021 in California. The ticket was sold at an Albertson’s grocery store.

21. $687.8 million, Powerball won Oct. 27, 2018. There were two winning tickets. One in Iowa and another in New York.
