A Lafayette woman is on a mission to reunite a lost wedding ring with its owner. Ashley Fritz, the local who discovered the ring, is seeking help from residents to spread the word and assist in her quest to find the hand it belongs to.

On Sunday, December 17th, around 8 pm at Mel's Diner, Ashley Fritz had just finished her meal and visited the restroom to wash her hands. It was there that she spotted something unusual in the trash – a shiny object that at first glance appeared to be a key ring. On closer inspection, Fritz realized it was much more significant: a diamond-encrusted woman's wedding band.

Recognizing its importance, Fritz took to Facebook, hoping social media might connect her with the ring's owner. Her post quickly gained traction, with many in the community tagging friends and acquaintances who had recently lost their rings. Despite these efforts, the rightful owner remains a mystery.

Fritz recounts her discovery, noting the absence of an engagement ring, which often accompanies a wedding band. She clarifies, "It's definitely a woman's wedding band; the engagement ring is not with it unless somebody else already found it, or they didn't lose that part." She also mentioned another Lafayette resident who lost her entire set, but unfortunately, this was not a match as that set was soldered together.

With over 400 shares, residents are banding (literally) together, circulating the post, and keeping an eye out, all in hopes of bringing a happy ending to this story.

If you or someone you know has lost a wedding ring and Mel’s Diner was on your path, this could be the missing piece. Even if it's not, taking a moment to share this story could make all the difference. The owner of the ring is surely missing this important keepsake, and your small act of sharing could lead to a joyous reunion.

Hopefully, we'll have some good news to share soon.
