This Saturday night, All Elite Wrestling, or AEW, will be making a historic stop at Brookshire Grocery Arena for their live nationally televised show Collison. That show will be Saturday, starting at 6pm, with wrestling all night, including a cage match.

All Elite Wrestling is the fastest growing professional wrestling company in history. AEW has a massive roster of stars, including names like Sting, Adam Copeland, Bryan Danielson, The Hardy Boyz, Samoa Joe, Will Osprey, and more top level wrestlers. But their legendary names aren't limited to their in-ring competitors.

The AEW commentary team includes multiple hall of fame level talents. With maybe the biggest name being Jim Ross.

"Good Ol' JR" is one of the most accomplished voices in pro wrestling history. One of his most legendary stops was actually in Shreveport, Louisiana. Back when the Mid South Wrestling territory was centered in Shreveport, hosting all of their shows on the Louisiana State Fairgrounds, and cutting their promos at local TV stations. Jim Ross was one of the main voices on their weekly shows. Between commentary and promos, JR was the voice for thousands of wrestling fans every week.

While in Mid South, JR worked for Cowboy Bill Watts, who Ross worked with on commentary for many nights too. Ross continues to speak glowingly of his time in Shreveport. Telling "Wrestling Then And Now" about his time in Shreveport, and about local legend Dr. Death Steve Williams:

“He was a tough son of a gun, he was probably one of the top ten toughest wrestlers ever in the business. He was a four-time All-American at [Oklahoma University] in wrestling, and he played in three bowl games on the football team as a starter. So I think those are two things that certainly cement that he was a great athlete. I don’t want him doing my taxes, God bless him, but he was a hell of a hand and tough. Physically tough. He got his eye busted open one night, it was in Shreveport at the Irish McNeil Boys’ Club [home of Mid-South Wrestling in 1980-1985] and he had 137 stitches and still made his town the next day in Biloxi ‘cause Cowboy said ‘you’re booked."

Jim Ross has been a big part of AEW since joining the company. Calling multiple big moments, and sharing his career experiences with those around him.

Again, you can catch AEW this Saturday at Brookshire Grocery Arena for their live nationally televised show Collison. That show will be Saturday, starting at 6pm, with wrestling all night, including a cage match. Tickets are available here.
