Taylor Swift to Have Major Impact on Louisiana Economy
🎤 Taylor Swift Takes Over New Orleans This Weekend
🎤 The Eras Tour is Expected to Boost Louisiana's Economy
🎤 Taylor is Just One of Several Major Events to Hit New Orleans
In case you haven't noticed, Taylor Swift is one of, if not the biggest performer, on planet earth. Every city her show rolls into instantly sells out. It's insanity. I wasn't alive for 'Beatles-Mania', but I'd imagine it's pretty similar to Taylor-Mania.
With that said, Taylor is bringing her Eras Tour to New Orleans this weekend. And according to all reports, it's expected to be a busy weekend across the city and state.
Taylor Takes New Orleans
Taylor Swift will be bringing The Eras tour to New Orleans for 3 shows at the Superdome - October 25th-27th. If you didn't grab tickets already, you may be out of luck. The show is completely sold out. Now, there are some tickets available on the secondary market, but those will cost you.
On StubHub, the cheapest ticket available for the 25th show is $1,157. On the 26th, the cheapest is $1,332. For the final show, the cheapest is $1,207. My point - it's going to cost at least a thousand bucks to get in the door. If you want good tickets, it's going to be closer to $3,000.
Now, if you're on a budget but don't want to miss out Taylor, you may not be able to get tickets to the show but there are Taylor Swift themed events all over New Orleans all week long.
Taylor Swift's Expected Impact on Louisiana's Economy
The Superdome holds up to 83,000 people. All 3 shows are sold out, so we're talking about close to 250,000 people attending these shows. That's a LOT of folks eating out, staying in hotels, taking cab rides, etc.. So, it's not a stretch to say that this string of shows is going to have a major impact on the Louisiana & New Orleans economy.
According to an article in Forbes, Swifties have made a huge impact in every city of the tour thus far. According to the article, the U.S. Travel Association estimated that the average Taylor Swift fan spent an average of $1,300 on travel, hotels, food, and other merchandise during each stop.
You expand that to roughly 250,000 people and you're getting close to the economic impact of a major event like the Olympics and Super Bowl. To put in perspective, the tour in Los Angeles generated a $320 million boost to the county's GDP. It's kind of crazy.
Taylor Isn't The Only Major Event to Hit Louisiana
Taylor isn't the only major event rolling into town either. New Orleans is always a mad house during Halloween week. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Over the next 6 months, New Orleans will host the Super Bowl, Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest.
And that's just New Orleans. There's tons of Mardi Gras events around the state. You got the State Fair in Shreveport. Mudbug Madness. You throw a dart at the calendar, you're bound to hit a major event somewhere in the state of Louisiana.
So, Taylor fan or not, there's plenty of stuff to do ALL over the Bayou State.
