Scary Movie Star Dave Sheridan Announced For Shreveport Geek’d Con
Shreveport’s premier pop culture event, Geek'd Con, is officially set to return to the Shreveport Convention Center this August. The 11th installment of the massive three-day convention will take place in Downtown Shreveport from August 14th through the 16th, 2026.
This event serves as the largest gathering of its kind in North Louisiana...offering a weekend of celebrity appearances, professional photo ops, and a massive vendor floor. It remains the primary destination for all fandoms in the Ark-La-Tex.
Scary Movie Legend Coming To Shreveport
Dave Sheridan is officially making his way to Shreveport for Geek'd Con.
In the year 2000, the parody film Scary Movie dominated the box office and changed the trajectory of spoof comedies. Sheridan delivered an unforgettable performance as Special Officer Doofy Gilmore, serving as the main antagonist and the surprise mastermind behind the film's events.
The Impact Of Special Officer Doofy Gilmore
His character was a direct parody of Deputy Dewey from the Scream franchise, elevating the comedic elements of the original horror hit. The twist ending where he drops his facade remains a defining moment for Millennial cinema...a scene that is still regularly referenced across social media platforms.
So many of the lines spoken by Sheridan in that film are quoted by millennials on a daily basis..."Don't disturb me while I'm cleaning my room!", "I go poopie.", "when I wear this badge you're supposed to treat me like a man of the law." are phrases commonly used quotes from the film.
Not only do the quotes from the movie live on, but there have been tons of memes based on Doofy that have been swimming online for over a decade.
A Different Kind Of Ghostface
In the Scary Movie franchise, Sheridan doesn't just play the comedic role of Doofy, he is also the Ghostface killer in the film. Acting out the role under the mask, and even voicing the character in the film(s).
Even though the role isn't an official "Ghostface" in the Scream franchise, the look was a direct parody, which makes the roles basically cousins.
What To Expect At Geek'd Con 2026
The convention is scheduled to take place in Shreveport, bringing together enthusiasts from across the region. Sheridan joins a growing roster of celebrity guests slated to appear during the weekend festivities.
Fans of Scary Movie, and early 2000s comedy, will find this appearance particularly notable. More announcements regarding the guest lineup and event schedules are expected in the coming weeks, and vendor applications are available now at ShreveportGeeks.com
