Texans More Likely To Become Alcoholics Than All Others

The results of a new study have sent to a shock wave throughout the Lonestar State and the news wasn't a whole lot better for those in the Bayou State.

The study named the states most vulnerable to alcoholism and Texas was number one in the entire country.  Louisiana didn't fare much better finishing in sixth place.

Conducted by the addiction resource site, FindRecovery.com, this study assessed each state against socio-economic factors, including unemployment rates, poverty levels, educational attainment, and lack of basic amenities, among others, assigning a point score for each metric.

Speaking on the findings, Serene Gato from FindRecovery.com said, “Our findings underscore the complexity of alcoholism risks in the U.S., revealing that it's not just about economic prosperity but also about addressing the underlying societal factors.”

The study shows that Texas is the state with the highest risk of alcoholism, scoring 72.38 out of a possible 100 points.

The Lone Star State faces notable challenges, including the highest rates of uninsured citizens and the third-highest number of the population without any formal schooling, at 13,878 and 1,849 per 100,000 citizens, respectively.

Texas Led The Country And Louisiana Finished In Sixth

Coming in the sixth spot, Louisiana was determined to have 59.03 points and posted the second-highest number of people with an income below the poverty line in the past year at 17,810 per 100,000.
