Calling all Dolly fans! Grab your glitter, tease that hair as high as it will go, and get ready to celebrate because Northwest Louisiana is officially joining in on an epic nationwide party. The Caddo Parish Commission is preparing to declare September 25th as Dolly Parton Day, and United Way of Northwest Louisiana is giving us the perfect excuse to act our best "9 to 5" for a great cause.

If you’ve been keeping up with music news, you know Nashville set the bar sky-high by launching its first citywide Dolly Day on September 25th, a clever date nod to her iconic anthem.

Music City is going all out with pink lights on historic landmarks, simultaneous live performances of "9 to 5" at 5:00 p.m., downtown fireworks, and massive charitable drives. Even Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood pledged to donate all proceeds from their downtown honky-tonk to support local libraries!

Now, Northwest Louisiana is bringing that same energy home. September 25th isn't just about celebrating the queen of country music, her dazzling wardrobe, or her timeless songs, it’s about leaning into her incredible heart for literacy. United Way of Northwest Louisiana is rallying the community to raise funds and support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library right here in our backyards, putting free, high-quality books directly into the hands of local children.

Dolly famously said, "If you see someone without a smile, give them yours." On September 25th, we have the chance to give local kids something else to smile about: a passion for reading.

So mark your calendars, show up in your best sparkles, and let's show everyone how Northwest Louisiana gives like Dolly!
