It’s Official: Kroger Coming To Ellerbe Road

It was, for months, Shreveport's worst kept secret: A Kroger Marketplace was coming to the corner of Ellerbe Road and Flourney Lucas. Well, now everybody knows...because the sign is up.

A Kroger Marketplace, along with a number of other retail shops, will be built on a portion of what is now the YMCA's Camp Forbing area, while the Y will keep about 25 acres to the rear of the current property.

As recently as last week, in an interview with Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty on 710 KEEL, YMCA CEO Gary Lash would not confirm Kroger as the major retailer coming to the area.

Construction on the new shopping area could begin later this year and weather permitting, stores could be open to the public before the end of 2016.
