I have listened to both sides of this age-old debate for years. One side says schools need to do more to teach students about sex education while opponents say that is not the job of the schools.

An earlier start to sex ed is the recommendation from the National Sexuality Education Standards board. They suggest that children as young as 2nd grade should be getting sex education in school. The leading health experts say parents are just not doing the job teaching children about sex and that is leading to a multitude of problems. These new sex-ed standards are aimed at lowering the number of teenage pregnancies and S.T.D. rates. Sex ed doesn't start in Louisiana schools until 7th grade.
