I-20 Crash Leaves Shreveport Man Dead
State Troopers responded to a crash on I-20 Friday afternoon that left a Shreveport man dead. The accident happened just after 3:00 p.m.on I-20 eastbound, about one mile east of LA 154.
Investigators says a 1995 Chevrolet pick-up pulling a small trailer, driven by 69-year-old Fred Cowden of Shreveport was headed east in the right lane on I-20. Another vehicle hit Cowden's vehicle from the rear causing the truck and trailer to separate and the truck to overturn several times. The second vehicle did not stop and fled the scene. Witnesses describe the vehicle as a tan pick-up truck.
Cowden and his juvenile passenger were buckled up, but Cowden was pronounced dead at the scene. The juvenile passenger was transported to University Health with non-life threatening injuries.

So far this year, Troop G has investigated eight fatal crashes resulting in eight deaths.
