Shreveport Man Dies After Crashing Recreational Vehicle
On Friday, May 3, 2024, at approximately 3:59 p.m., officers from the Shreveport Police Department responded to a major vehicular collision near the intersection of Jewella Avenue and Stonewall Street. The incident involved a gray Nissan Murano and a blue and yellow off-road motorcycle.
Despite the response and critical medical assistance provided by the Shreveport Fire Department, the motorcyclist did not survive the injuries sustained and was deceased at the scene.
Preliminary reports from the ongoing investigation indicate that the gray Nissan Murano was traveling northbound in the 2400 block of Jewella Avenue within the inner lane. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist, traveling westbound along the 3600 block of Stonewall Street, failed to yield at the intersection. As a result, the motorcycle collided with the Murano's right side, near the passenger's tire well, causing the 52-year-old rider to be ejected from the motorcycle.
The Shreveport Police Department stresses the seriousness of the incident and reminds the public that the operation of mini bikes, ATVs, and recreational vehicles on roadways is both illegal and inherently dangerous. This tragic accident serves as a stark reminder of the potentially lethal consequences associated with such activities.
