Plans for a 2nd Humor and Harmony Festival in Shreveport are on hold for a bit. The highly anticipated event was originally set to happen in March of this year, but Mayor Tom Arceneaux tells KEEL News that will not happen. The Mayor could not confirm a possible new date for this big event which is held as several locations across the community.

The festival, backed by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and his G-Unit Foundation, drew national attention and guest from all over the country when the first event was held in downtown Shreveport in August 2024. The four-day mega event included all kinds of events ranging from comedy, music, sports, along with cultural events and fitness events for children. Thousands of visitors converged on our community triggering a shot in the arm for the local economy, specifically in the Red River District.

A Look Back at 2024’s Inaugural Festival

The inaugural Humor & Harmony Weekend drew crowds with a wide slate of events including headline comedy shows featuring names like Dave Chappelle, Katt Williams and Bill Bellamy, musical performances by Master P, DaBaby, Flo Rida and others. Jackson also hosted a celebrity basketball game, and community-friendly attractions like the 50 Fit Park and a Drive Your Dreams car show.

This four day event pumped millions of dollars into the local economy and showed off our community on the international stage. Shreveport police stepped in to provide extra security for the event and there were no major incidents of crimes during the run of the festival.

During the 2024 event, a temporary inflatable “G-Dome,” was set up in downtown and it became the hub for late-night partying and live broadcast of many of the events of the festival lineup.

50 Cent’s Continued Involvement

The event was not held in 2025, but organizers are working on the plans for this year. There's just not enough time to pull it all together for the March dates. Part of the delay is likely the effort to get the new, permanent G-Dome built. That issue is headed for a hearing before the Zoning Board of Appeals next week and then construction can begin.
