How – And When – Folks From Louisiana Can Get Free COVID Tests
Beginning January 19, folks all across the USA will be able to get free at-home COVID-19 test kits from the federal government. It's all part of the Biden Administration's ongoing effort to slow down still rising COVID numbers.
The Plan
Late last year the feds announced a plan to purchase nearly half a billion 500 testing kits and distribute them for free to everybody in the US who wants one. The Biden administration is spending more than $4 billion for the more than 420 million tests.
Federal health officials also will also launch a free "hot line" to assist anyone unable to access the government website help. The government plan also calls for working with both national and community based groups to give extra aid to toe nation's hardest hit and highest risk communities.
How to Get Your Tests
To order their tests, Louisianans will only need to provide a name and residence. No other information will be required and paying for mailing costs is also part of the government plan.
The federal website is scheduled to begin taking orders on January 19, but no specific time of website activation has been announced.
Every household is allowed to request up to four tests. Government health officials say that tests should be delivered in seven to 12 days.
