Tyrann Mathieu, famously known as the Honey Badger, who played cornerback for LSU, is hoping to return to the Tigers football team in 2013. That is, if it can be worked out with the school.

ESPN is reporting that Mathieu wants to stay on as a student at LSU this fall, but he won't be playing football. This after being kicked off the team Friday for reportedly failing drug tests.

Mathieu was dismissed from the team and suspended for the season but not dismissed by the university.  There would have to be many different approvals, including a pass from head coach Les Miles.

In the meantime, Mathieu reportedly has visited McNeese State.

Reports suggest Mathieu is "heartbroken" and "grieving" since being kicked off the team.

Mathieu reportedly wants to continue his education at LSU.
