The specific details as to why Tyrann Mathieu was dismissed from the LSU Tigers are unclear at this point.

But just know, this is a huge loss for LSU.

In a news conference that was initially set for 6 p.m. today and moved up to 12 noon, was unusual to say the least.

Previous rumors speculated that this news conference was centered around arguably LSU's best player. Now we know, it's true.

All Les Miles had to say in his brief news conference is that:

“This is a very difficult day for our team. We lose a quality person, teammate and contributor to the program. However, with that being said, we have a standard that our players are held to and when that standard is not met, there are consequences."

“It’s hard because we all love Tyrann. We will do what we can as coaches, teammates, and friends to get him on a path where he can have success. We are going to miss him.”

The Tigers will miss out on the constant highlight factory Mathieu put on last fall in Death Valley, aside from the other he's played in his freshman year. No longer will the Tigers have his speed, his tackles, and his ability to score touchdowns. It's over.

Will the Tigers recover from this?
