Historian Ernie Roberson: What ‘Old Shreveport’ Spot Do You Miss the Most? [VIDEO]
Ernie Roberson, Shreveport's premiere historian, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright about his favorite long-gone city landmarks.
In a recent Facebook post, the now retired Registrar of Voters wrote:
"...there are some things in Shreveport that I wish we had back...the Ford park Zoo, the Louisiana State Fair Speedway, either dirt or asphalt, the electric trolley buses or, even streetcars. Gilmore's News Stand, Pioneer Barbecue, Pee Wee Cunningham's Barbecue, Mandel Weisman's Buffet...Bayer's Pub, the original El Chico with Mr. Cuellar on Greenwood Road...and Abe Ritman and his wisdom."
And Roberson concludes his blog by saying, "Life is okay...but I miss the old days."
