Shreveport Police detectives are working to identify and apprehend a suspect in connection with a purse snatching that occurred last week in southeast Shreveport.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. on February 18, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched out to the 1700 block of East Bert Kouns Industrial Loop relative to a purse snatching. Upon arrival there, officers contacted an elderly female victim who advised that as she was walking out of the TCBY there, a white male suspect, approximately five feet ten inches tall with a slim build wearing a white tank top style t-shirt with numerous tattoos on his arms, forearms and chest, approached her and grabbed her purse. The suspect then fled the scene of the crime on foot. Responding officers circulated the area in an attempt to locate the suspect but to no avail. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspect entering and exiting the TCBY just before he accosted the victim. The video will also be in the media box at the patrol desk. Crime Stoppers will be offering a $600 reward for information leading to the arrest of this suspect. Anyone who has any information regarding this crime is urged to call Shreveport Police Detective John Jackson at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
