Austin Beard of Shreveport's Urgent Care of Louisiana talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the rapidly approaching flu season, the different strains and preventions.

Beard, Clincal Manager at the Urgent Care Fern Avenue clinic, tells KEEL listeners that this year's flu strains "won't be identified until the flu season's over. We know that last year we saw 70 million cases of the flu, about 40% of those were hospitalized, about 50,000 deaths in this country from the flu, particularly from a respiratory illness." Beard emphasizes that three out of four Americans who died from the flu during the last season had not had a flu shot.

KEEL's Erin McCarty rolls up - down, actually - her sleeve and gets her annual shot, showing KEEL's Facebook and YouTube viewers how quick, simple and painless the shot actually is.

Hear Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty weekday mornings from 6 til 9 on 101.7 / 710 KEEL, or by downloading the free KEEL app, presented by Office Furniture Source.
