Group Sues City of Natchitoches Over Right To Fly Confederate Flag
The Sons of Confederate Veterans is suing the city of Natchitoches because the city banned the group from flying the Confederate Flag during its Festival of Lights Christmas Parade.
The group claims the move by city leaders is a violation of multiple constitutional rights. The Sons want no money from the city, just the right to participate in the event and to fly their flag.
The group went on to say that the Confederate battle flag is not a symbol of hate but part of history. The suit is expected to make its way to trial sometime in the summer of 2017.
