One more hurdle could be crossed this week for the plan to redevelop downtown Shreveport.

The Shreveport Metropolitan Board of Zoning Appeals is set to hear a zoning variance request from the Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson team for the plan to build a G-Dome in downtown Shreveport.

When Is the ZBA Meeting

The meeting is set for 2pm Wednesday afternoon at the MPC offices at Government Plaza on Travis street. This variance is needed to move forward with construction of the dome.

What the Variance Request Covers

The documents submitted to the ZBA show the G-Unit team is asking for a little more leeway on height, setbacks, and site design. These variances are needed because the projected does not meet current zoning regulations.

The G-Dome would be an enclosed, dome-style venue and it's not something that you would typically see in the downtown district. These waivers are needed before permits can be issued to greenlight construction.

The Vision for the G-Dome

The G-Dome is proposed as a multi-use entertainment and event venue in downtown Shreveport, capable of hosting concerts, sporting events, film productions, and community gatherings.

You might remember the temporary G-Dome that was constructed for the Humor & Harmony Festival back in 2024. At the time, Jackson promised to build a permanent structure at the same location.

Downtown Investment and Economic Impact

G-Unit Film & Television is preparing to infuse millions of dollars into our community. The company is already leasing the Millennium Studios property and the former StageWorks building on the Clyde Fant Parkway.

Supporters of the G-Dome project say it could provide a boost to downtown foot traffic, tourism, and local businesses, while also reinforcing Shreveport’s growing reputation as a destination for major events and productions.
