Who says summer vacation can't be educational, too? Sci-Port and the STEM Communications Institute are bringing the free Science in the City program to the Louisiana Boardwalk.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18, near Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro and the parking garage.

This is part of Sci-Port and the STEM Communication Institute's outreach to connect research scneitists with the community, supporting science, technology, engineering and math careers and education.

"We've been working with these scientists through our STEM Communications Institute," said Sci-Port Director of Education Alan Brown in a news release. "The goal of the program is to give them both communication tools and an opportunity to share their research with a broad public. Since some people may be reluctant to visit a science center, we thought we'd try to take the science center to them."

We're told the event is made possible by the National Science Foundation and the Institure of Museum and Library Services through the Portal to the Public Network. Bring your little scientists out for all the fun!
