Since 2014, Flying Heart Brewing has occupied the old Central Fire Station No. 6 in Bossier City. One of the things that they inherited with the building is a magnolia tree that was planted in 1963 to commemorate the lives of two Bossier City employees and two firefighters lost their lives in the line of duty.

The tree had been cared for by the City Of Bossier and every firefighter assigned to the station until its closing. When Flying Heart took the building over, they made sure that caring for the tree was a top priority.

To celebrate the lives lost and the passing of the torch, so to speak, of caring for the tree, Flying Heart Brewing will hold a re-dedication ceremony on Sept 13. According to their press release:

In memory of those individuals whose lives the tree honors, the owners of Flying Heart Brewing will rededicate this tree during a special event on Sunday, September 13, 2015.

When: Sunday, September 13
4:00 – 7:00 PM
The tree rededication will take place at 5:00 PM

Where: Flying Heart Brewing
700 Barksdale Blvd; Bossier City, LA 71111

Family members of those who lost their lives in 1963 have been invited to attend the rededication.

Bossier City Firefighters Association Local 1051 will be on hand selling fish plates to raise money for its benevolent fund which provides financial support to Bossier City firefighters and their families in their times of need.
