Shreveport Firefighters responded quickly to a call of a fire in a motel the afternoon of May 11th at 1:32p.m. A room in the motel in the 5200 block of Monkhouse Drive near Shreveport Regional Airport was found to be completely engulfed in flames.

Shreveport Firefighters were able to arrive on the scene of the fire within 3 minutes and began the process of containing the fire in the 1st floor motel room. The person occupying the room was able to escape the room before firefighters arrived on scene. Shreveport Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, so that the fire damage was contained to one room. Some adjacent rooms had some minor smoke damage. Occupants of those rooms were moved to other rooms in the motel while repairs are done.

There were 11 – Fire Units and 28 – Firefighters on scene that battled the fire. The situation was placed under control at 1:46 p.m. by Battalion 3. There were no firefighters injured and the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. The motel is still in operations and open for business.
