Having spent a lot of time in historic Jefferson, Texas -- including my marriage night -- it's sad to hear that one of its oldest bed and breakfasts has been heavily damaged by fire.

The blaze at Pride House Bed & Breakfast on E. Broadway was reported just before 3:30 this morning. It took about five hours for firefighters to bring the blaze under control. Investigators say it may have started near the kitchen area and spread quickly through the roof, but they're still looking into the exact cause.

There are no reported injuries. Nobody was inside the building when the fire started. No word on how extensive the damage is, or how long repairs might take.
