The farmer's market season is here. Bossier's farmer's market is already open, but several others will be opening up soon. If you're looking for fresh fruits and veggies, you might want to check some of these markets out. But many of them also offer organic meats and dairy products in addition to hand crafted items.
Here's all the info you need about area markets:
This is the first market to open this spring and it's already attracting lots of shoppers.You can find fresh fruits and vegetables from local growers and some homemade arts items.
Dates: April 2nd-November 19th
Hours: 9am-2pm
Location: Pierre Bossier Mall in South parking lot
This is a Friday evening market. The goal is to attract folks on the way home from work after a busy week. It's the only market open on Friday evenings and it's been quite popular with Shreveport residents.
Minden's market is growing every year. Vendors from across North Louisiana are finding active buyers at the Minden market. You can snap up fresh fruits and veggies, but you'll also find locally harvested honey and many handmade craft products.
Dates: Saturdays May-September
Hours: 8am-noon
Location: 417 East Union in Minden
Haughton Heirloom Farmer's Market and Artisan Fair
This event in Haughton is much more than a farmer's market. You can find one-of-a-kind arts and crafts items right alongside the tomatoes and watermelons. This market is growing each year and I would expect to see more growth this year.
Dates May 14th & May 21st (more dates to be announced soon)
Hours:9am-2pm
Location: Fred's Store in Downtown Haughton
This is the area's only Sunday market. Benton residents flock to this event each weekend, but now the word is out and folks from Bossier City and Shreveport are making the short trip to Benton if they can't make it to one of the Saturday events.
Dates: May 15th-July 10th Sundays only
Hours: noon-4pm
Location: Simpson Street Park 495 Simpson Street Benton
Provenance Farmer's Market and Music in the Park
This is a community-based event that features music and fun in the park for the whole family. But while you are enjoying a Saturday afternoon in the park, you can also pick up your fresh items for the week.
Dates: Saturdays in May and June (more dates to be announced)
Hours: 4pm-8pm
Location: Windrush Park
This is the largest market in the region and it attracts thousands of shoppers, especially on Saturdays. The event continues to grow and includes entertainment in addition to breakfast offerings while your shopping for fresh items.
Dates: June 4th- August 27th Tuesday and Saturdays (except 6/18)
Hours: 7am-noon on Saturdays, 3pm-6pm on Tuesdays
