Former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards has died. The longtime Louisiana politician has died. He was 93 years old.

Edwards served 4 terms as Governor of Louisiana. He was considered a colorful, but controversial politician. He was convicted by the feds and served nearly 10 years in prison for corruption.

Edwards died at his home in Gonzalez with family members at his side.

Earlier this month, Edwards announced he was entering hospice care at his home, but at the time said he was looking forward to his 94th birthday next month and was already planning his 95th birthday for next summer.

Edwards did issue this statement. “I’ve made no bones that I have considered myself on borrowed time for 20 years and we each know that all this fun has to end at some point.”
