Louisiana's DOTD Secretary, Dr. Shawn Wilson, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about funding for state roads and highways and how, what the Governor calls "the impending fiscal cliff", could affect area projects.

Wilson tells KEEL listeners that Bossier City and Bossier Parish are willing to put up as much as $3 million as part of a $90 million project to construct a new direct entrance from I-20 to Barksdale Air Force Base. The DOTD boss also talks about the status of any Jimmie Davis Bridge updates and if the $25 million already allocated for the project is still available.

Wilson also reiterates what he feels is the state's need for more funding for his department, saying that numerous cuts have already been made and that if the legislature had passed the Governor's proposed 23 cent per gallon gas tax increase, the DOTD would already have an additional $500 million in hand for Louisiana road improvements.
