Dog Rescued from Burning Bossier City Apartment
An apartment was heavily damaged this morning in a fire at Tallow Wood Apartments in the 2600 block of Airline Drive.
Firefighters arrived after receiving a report of smoke coming from a third-floor unit. Firefighters immediately made entry and began battling the blaze, which had spread into the attic. Several surrounding apartments were evacuated as a precaution.
The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes. Firefighters kept it contained to the unit where the flames originated, but several surrounding apartments sustained varying degrees of smoke and water damage.
Before firefighters got to the scene, maintenance personnel managed to rescue a dog from inside the burning unit. One of the workers suffered minor smoke inhalation and was treated by BCFD paramedics. He didn't need to be transported to a hospital. There were no other reported injuries.
No one was home when the fire started. It's believed to have been ignited by a burner on the kitchen stove top that was left on.
