Shreveport Crawfish Prices Are Out—Here’s What You’ll Pay This Mardi Gras
SHREVEPORT, LA - I must admit I haven't tried any crawfish yet this season, but I am hearing from several friends that this is going to be a great spring for mudbug lovers.
If you are planning to go to the Krewe of Gemini Parade or the Krewe of Highland Parade this weekend, you might think about having a crawfish boil. The prices for live crawfish are falling and vendors are seeing pretty good sized crawfish. It is legal to have a crawfish boil along the parade route. That's something you probably can not do in New Orleans.
If you are not up for hauling all that equipment and the bags of bugs to the parade, you might wanna plan a crawfish boil at your home. It's a great way to have fun and get the family together for some amazing Louisiana food.
Are Crawfish Prices Falling?
Yes, most definitely. I found several places that have dropped the prices by about 2 dollars a pound over the past couple of weeks. Several spots are now selling boiled crawfish for under $7 dollars a pound. I also found live crawfish for under $4 a pound at some of the big spots in town.

And it seems like the supply is pretty good. Just a few weeks ago you would probably have to call before trying to pick up a large quantity of crawfish. But today, most local vendors have plenty of mudbugs.

While the supply is pretty good now, that's going to get even better as we inch closer to May. And we will see the prices drop significantly over the next few weeks.
