The Ark-La-Tex is experiencing a full blown winter event complete with snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures. The conditions are already straining the power system and making it nearly impossible to drive. However, as bad as it is now, it's probably going to get a whole lot worse.

Overnight tonight, a second wave of winter weather is expected to hit our area. However, unlike the first wave which was mostly snow, the second wave is expected to bring freezing rain in as well.

According to the National Weather Service, Shreveport could see another inch of snow between tonight (Tuesday February 16th) and Thursday. We're also projected to see a little less than a half inch of ice accumulation. While snow can be inconvenient and troublesome, ice can be downright catastrophic and damaging.

Experts say that residents should stay home unless it's absolutely necessary to leave. If the weather forecast is correct, if you need supplies, get them now. Because once the ice starts building, you may not be able to leave your home for a couple of days.
