What will you do with all of that used grease after Thanksgiving?  The City of Shreveport says it will take it!

The city will be holding a used cooking oil collection event Saturday morning for residents to drop off their used cooking oil, which the city will have converted into biodiesel fuel.

The city will only be taking used cooking oil in clean, non-breakable, leak-proof containers like milk jugs.

The collection will be happening from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Streets and Drainage office at 3825 Mansfield Road.

The city also warns residents against dumping used cooking oil down the drain because it will clog the sewer pipes, causing sewerage overflows.  It can also cause plumbing problems and back ups in your home.
