The CIA Joins Twitter, Posts Funny First Tweet
It's official: the Central Intelligence Agency is now on Twitter.
The CIA's first tweet, posted June 6, definitely touches on public perception of the group.
The CIA also marked its foray into the online social network by joining Facebook June 1. Tellingly, the group has amassed over 75,000 Twitter followers so far, while its Facebook page has just over 2,100 likes (as of the publication of this story).
The CIA is a little late to the social media party. Facebook launched in 2004, while Twitter was live two years later. The CIA was founded September 18, 1947 in Langley, Virginia.
No word yet if the group's Twitter join has led to an increase in Twitter users protecting their tweets. Then again, it's the CIA, so that probably wouldn't help.
