Shreveport Fire Department rushed to the scene of a fire at 8405 Clarice St. this afternoon at 4:45 p.m. Fire Crews arrived on scene at 4:49 p.m. to a single story wood frame home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the front, side and rear of the home. The homeowner was able to safely escape without injury prior to the fire departments arrival.

After the blaze was under control 5:04 p.m., Shreveport Fire Fighters searched the home to make sure no other people or pets were inside. There were no injuries reported from any citizens or fire fighters.

The incident required the use of 19 personnel with 3 fire engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 heavy rescue truck, 1 battalion chief and 1 medic unit. The American Red Cross is actively assisting the elderly displaced occupant. The cause of this fire is currently under investigation. This story will be updated as information is forthcoming.
