This week 57 people were booked and kept at Caddo Correctional Center for various crimes.
One of those booked was made famous on social media for stealing packages.
Porch Pirating spree stopped by social media and police!
Several social media posts showing a man stealing packages off of the porches of several people started making the rounds, and it paid off.
An off-duty SPD Officer was able to recognize Danny Levy from all the posts. The off duty officer called SPD and told them where Levy was. The Police were able to find him and take him to jail.
Levy was using Sportran buses to go to different neighborhoods throughout the city and grab people's packages off of their porches. Shreveport Police credits folks in the city for posting his pictures and videos on social media so Levy could be more easily recognized.
SPD calls Levy a habitual offender with a bunch of prior theft convictions.
From SPD:
"Investigators believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with security footage of Levy stealing packages is encouraged to contact the Shreveport Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit at 673-7300. DON’T JUST REPOST IT, REPORT IT!!!
We appreciate the community’s efforts in helping bring this offender to justice."
Another person who was booked in CCC this week robbed a Family Dollar with a sawn-off shotgun.
Shreveport Police Department had their hands full with this one.
A relatively peaceful day at a Line Avenue Family Dollar was interrupted last Tuesday when every store-clerk' nightmare scenario happened.
A woman came in to the store with what the witnesses described as a sawn-off shotgun, went up to the clerk at the counter, and demanded that they hand over the cash. The clerk did what the woman with the gun said and gave her the money. Then the woman took the money and left the store on foot. Shreveport Police were called and showed up to the Family Dollar shortly after.
SPD started talking to witnesses and checking security cameras and noticed that the woman who robbed the store had a similar build, height, and walk as a former employee. Police were able to see that the woman who robbed the store may be Marquita Marshall.
Detectives working the case were able to get a search warrant for Marshall's home. The warrant was used to search property on Rainbow Drive. Marshall was arrested and her home was searched. Police found stuff in the house that showed she had possibly used the money to buy several things.
Marshall was charged with First-Degree Robbery.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to holding offenders accountable and ensuring the safety of our community. If convicted, Marshall could serve up to 40 years in prison."
All those pictured are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
