Shreveport is the focus for C-SPAN producers this week. Today through Friday, they'll be visiting various literary and historic sites, interviewing local historians, authors and civic leaders for upcoming programming featuring Shreveport's history and literary life. And several LSU-Shreveport professors and campus landmarks will be part of that. Visits to the LSUS campus include the Pioneer Heritage Center, where Director Marty Young will discuss mid-19th-century medicine. Associate Professor of History and Director of the Red River Regional Studies Center, Dr. Gary Joiner, will talk about Shreveport's history. Shreveport is one of six south-central American cities being featured in C-SPAN's 2012 "Local Content Vehicles Cities Tour." Our part of the program will air March 3rd and 4th on C-SPAN 2 and 3.  A public kick-off event is being held at 2 this afternoon in the Government Plaza lobby on Travis Street.
