Consumer Reports recently released their top five mosquito repellants of 2019, and with Summer around the corner we know you need this information.

Mosquitoes are my sworn enemy. Maybe this sounds dramatic, but they eat me alive. For whatever reason they love the way I taste, you can skip the 'sweet' jokes I've been hearing them for 30 years.

Yes, this has been a constant in my life. Wearing shorts and short sleeves in the Texas heat my whole life has led to bites, sores, scabs and scars on my skin thanks to the little pests. Each Summer I face them again, and this year I'll be stocking up on these repellants.

“There’s a mind-boggling number of choices that you have to make,” Joe Conlon, a former Navy entomologist and technical adviser to the American Mosquito Control Association told Consumer Reports. “And it’s actually very important to pick the right product because it will be your best defense against some very serious diseases.”

Conlon is referencing lyme disease and the zika virus, both of which are carried by mosquitoes. In addition to the irritation that we all feel when bitten, and the subsequent itching sensations, there are real threats posed by mosquitoes. Keep yourself safe. Here are the best of the best according to Consumer Reports.
