Tragedy on the interstate on Thursday when a brother and sister died in a crash on I-20 near the Industrial Drive exit.

70-year-old Louis Stacks of Haughton and his sister 57-year-old Kelly Carpenter of Homer were killed. They were in separate vehicles headed to a car repair shop when a westbound big big ran into Carpenter's car pushing it off the roadway and then smashing into Stack's vehicle. A third vehicle was also hit.

The Louisiana Department of Corrections posted that Stacks retired April 4 as regional administrator with the state Probation and Parole office. He worked for the state for 40 years. Carpenter retired from the David Wade Correctional Center 2 years ago. She had been employed with the DOC for 33 years.

I-20 was shut down for several hours as a result of this crash.

Bossier Police say no impairment is suspected. But toxicology tests are pending.
