Bossier Parish Teacher Arrested for Possible Sex Crime
Aubrey Norcross, a teacher at Benton Elementary School, has been arrested for video voyeurism. While details about the investigation are scarce, Norcross was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon and is being held at Bossier Max on a $200 thousand bond. His alleged actions are said to involved a student at the school.
In the state of Louisiana, video voyeurism is defined as: “The use of any camera, videotape, photo-optical, photo-electric, unmanned aircraft system, or any other image recording device for the purpose of observing, viewing, photographing, filming, or videotaping a person where that person has not consented to the observing, viewing, photographing, filming, or videotaping and it is for a lewd or lascivious purpose.”
The law also extends to include the transfer of obtained media via e-mail, live or recorded message, commercial online service, and the Internet as video voyeurism. If the offense is committed against a minor, it is considered a sex crime.
Bossier Superintendent Scott Smith issued the following statement after the news of Norcross' arrest broke:
We are shocked by this allegation and want to be clear that Bossier Schools has absolutely no tolerance for any employee who violates the trust and safety of the children in our care. We took immediate action to place Mr. Norcross on administrative leave upon learning of this charge and the district continues to work closely with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office as detectives investigate this case.
An investigation into Norcross' alleged criminal activity is on going.
