Bossier City will soon have a new player in the market for internet and cable TV service.

Comcast/Xfinity is expanding service into Bossier City. Ronnie Colvin, the Senior Director of External Affairs for Comcast has outlined the plan for the Bossier City Council. He says Comcast has been working in Bossier City for a couple years now and they are about halfway through getting all of the infrastructure installed. Colvin says the company has spent more than 19 million dollars on this Bossier expansion. Colvin says the plan is to have this new network complete and ready to go by the end of 2026.

But he does say new service in some parts of town will be launching this year. Comcast will have a price point for every income level. He says there is an entry level price of $14.95 and the tiered services go up from there.

Colvin also says as Comcast moves into Bossier City, they are rolling out a simplified pricing package which will include a five year price guarantee. If you take the service the price you sign up for is guaranteed for five years.

What Else Does Comcast Offer?

The company also offers traditional cell phone service and home security. Comcast/Xfinity also offers all kind of video packages. They are delivered the traditional way along with a streaming service through Peacock.

Colvin says there's a lot of broadband projects going in all across the state. Comcast is expanding in several areas in Bossier and Caddo Parishes. He also says Comcast also gets involved in the communities where they operate by sponsoring community events like the Red River Balloon Rally and the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival.

Colvin rolled out the plan during the Tuesday Bossier Council meeting.

Comcast is also installing Wi-Fi at several community centers and other locations where there are multiple users that need access to internet. He says this gives free access to Wi-Fi for students and families who don't have internet.

The Comcast service will not be replacing Suddenlink/Optimum service in Bossier. This will give residents another option for service.
