An organization that creates "memory moments" for children who have to spend part of their youth in a hospital gets a generous donation from a local casino.

Margaritaville has given $75,000 to Tia's Hope. The organization was founded by the family of Tia Palermo, who battled Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma for over 11 years until she lost her fight in 2012. It was Tia's wish that children receive joy and gifts during their stay at the hospital.

"We are grateful to have the opportunity to support such a worthy cause," said Margaritaville Senior Vice President and General Manager Barry Regula in a news release. "Our crew members are excited to spread joy, plan parties and give children of our community 'memory moments'."

Tia's Hope Founder Jess Ravich said because of this donation, the group's mission will extend to Shriner's Hospitals for Children - Shreveport and University Health Shreveport.
