Customers of Shreveport's water system should note there is a boil advisory for part of west Shreveport until further notice.

A pump on the city system went out at the booster station causing an interruption in service over the weekend. The area around Pines Road suffered low water pressure while the repairs were made

The system is fixed and back up and going, but the boil advisory has been issued as the pressure builds back up. This advisory impacts all customers in the 71129 zip code area.

The Department of Water & Sewerage has issued this voluntary boil advisory our of an abundance of caution. It is recommended that water be disinfected before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means: Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one-minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle or pouring it from one clean container to another)

Samples will be collected and analyzed from the affected area. Once the system gets the green light from the Louisiana Department of Health, the boil advisory will be lifted.
